RESUMO

Resin-derived hard carbons have shown great advantages in serving as promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries due to their flexible microstructure tunability. However, it remains a daunting challenge to rationally regulate the pseudo-graphitic crystallite and defect of hard carbon toward advanced sodium storage performance. Herein, a molecular engineering strategy is demonstrated to modulate the cross-linking degree of phenolic resin and thus optimize the microstructure of hard carbon. Remarkably, the resorcinol endows resin with a moderate cross-linking degree, which can finely tune the pseudo-graphitic structure with enlarged interlayer spacing and restricted surface defects. As a consequence, the optimal hard carbon delivers a notable reversible capacity of 334.3 mAh g-1 at 0.02 A g-1, a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 82.1%, superior rate performance of 103.7 mAh g-1 at 2 A g-1, and excellent cycling durability over 5000 cycles. Furthermore, kinetic analysis and in situ Raman spectroscopy are performed to reveal the electrochemical advantage and sodium storage mechanism. This study fundamentally sheds light on the molecular design of resin-based hard carbons to advance sodium energy for scale-up applications.

RESUMO

It is currently a challenge to accurately predict the deformation and fracture behavior of metal parts in automobile crashes. Many studies have shown that the deformation and fracture behavior of materials are significantly affected by the stress state during automobile crashes with complex stress state characteristics. In order to further promote the application of die-cast magnesium alloys in automobiles, it is particularly important to study the material deformation and fracture behavior of die-cast magnesium alloys. In this paper, the mechanical properties of the AM60B die-cast magnesium alloy sheet under four stress states (shear, tension, R10 notch tension, and cupping) were designed and tested. Based on the von Mises isotropic constitutive model and Swift weighted Hockett-Sherby hardening model, the plastic constitutive model of die-cast magnesium alloy was established. Based on the plastic model and the fracture model (JC, MMC, and DIEM) considering the influence of three stress states, the deformation and fracture behavior of the AM60B die-cast magnesium alloy front-end members in three-point bending were predicted by experiments and finite element simulation. The experimental results show that the deformation mode and loading-displacement curve trend of the AM60B die-cast magnesium alloy front members are the same, the crack initiation point and crack initiation time are the same, and the crack shape is similar. The results show that the complex stress state constitutive model parameters and the DIEM fracture model obtained in this paper can accurately predict the deformation and fracture failure behavior of the AM60B die-cast magnesium alloy sheet.

RESUMO

Due to the emergency environment pollution problems, it is imperative to understand the air quality and take effective measures for environmental governance. As a representative measure, the air quality index (AQI) is a single conceptual index value simplified by the concentrations of several routinely monitored air pollutants according to the proportion of various components in the air. With the gradual enhancement of awareness of environmental protection, air quality index forecasting is a key point of environment management. However, most of the traditional forecasting methods ignore the fuzziness of original data itself and the uncertainty of forecasting results which causes the unsatisfactory results. Thus, an innovative forecasting system combining data preprocessing technique, kernel fuzzy c-means (KFCM) clustering algorithm and fuzzy time series is successfully developed for air quality index forecasting. Concretely, the fuzzy time series that handle the fuzzy set is used for the main forecasting process. Then the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition and KFCM are respectively developed for data denoising and interval partition. Furthermore, the interval forecasting method based on error distribution is developed to measure the forecasting uncertainty. Finally, the experimental simulation and evaluation system verify the great performance of proposed forecasting system and the promising applicability in a practical environment early warning system.

RESUMO

The low-carbon development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) is critical to achieving the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. As such, combining gray model theory with system dynamics (SD-GM) and based on the bidirectional-cycle prediction theory, we propose a NEV annual average mileage algorithm considering the impact of the epidemic in China, taking private cars as an example. Then, combining a voluntary advocacy strategy (VA) with the SD-GM theory (VA-SD-GM integration), we establish an energy-saving and carbon-reduction management model. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we performed a dynamic simulation. The results indicate that the enhanced green scenario enabled significant energy-saving and CO2 reduction performance but would cause side effects in the long term. Compared with the enhanced green scenario, the linkage mode reduced the impact of parking space tension, the number of NEV trips, and the intensification of traffic congestion by approximately 33%, 50%, and 34%, respectively. It effectively suppressed the continuous increase in side effects and had a synergistic effect of carbon reduction, energy conservation, congestion alleviation, and side-effect reduction. The study provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the energy-saving and CO2 reduction path of NEVs.

RESUMO

The presence of serum monoclonal components has been associated with poor outcomes in various hematological malignancies. The current study focused on exploring its prognostic role in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Our study represented 314 patients with information on serum immunofixation electrophoresis at diagnosis that were available with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. IFE was positive in 61 patients (19%). Baseline features were comparable between pairs of groups, poor ECOG PS, B symptoms, advanced stage, and high-risk IPI score were significantly more frequent in the + IFE group. Shorter PFS and OS of B-NHL patients were observed in patients who presented at diagnosis with a + IFE, and IFE was the independent predictor of PFS and OS in multivariate analysis. Moreover, integrating IFE into the IPI-M1, IPI-M2, and IPI-M3 models improved the area under the curve for more accurate survival prediction and prognosis. Serum monoclonal proteins are significant prognostic indicators for newly diagnosed B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that can early identify patients with poor prognosis and guide clinical treatment decisions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) varies across countries, with limited information available on its epidemiology in China. Our study aimed to investigate the prevalence, time trends, and perinatal outcomes of CDH in China, as well as its associated malformations and potential associations with maternal and infant characteristics. METHODS: This study included all birth and CDH cases from the Chinese Birth Defects Monitoring Network between 2007 and 2019, with CDH cases classified as either isolated or associated. We employed the joinpoint regression model to calculate the trends of prevalence and the annual percent change, with Poisson regression used for adjusted prevalence rate ratios. A P value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: A total of 4397 CDH cases were identified among 24,158,029 births in the study period, yielding prevalence rates of 1.82, 1.13 and 0.69 per 10,000 for overall, isolated, and associated CDH, respectively. The prevalence of each type of CDH increased over time. The prevalence of overall CDH varied significantly by infant sex (male vs. female, 1.91/10,000 vs. 1.63/10,000), maternal residence (urban vs. rural, 2.13/10,000 vs. 1.45/10,000), maternal age (< 20 years, 1.31/10,000; 20-24 years, 1.63/10,000; 25-29 years, 1.80/10,000; 30-34 years, 1.87/10,000; ≥ 35 years, 2.22/10,000), and geographic region (central, 1.64/10,000; east, 2.45/10,000; west, 1.37/10,000). Cardiovascular anomalies were the most common malformations associated with CDH. Infants with associated CDH had a higher risk of premature birth and perinatal death than those with isolated CDH. CONCLUSION: The increasing prevalence and high perinatal mortality rate of CDH highlight the need for further etiological, epidemiological, and clinical studies among the Chinese population. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Natural killer/T cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is an aggressive lymphoma with a poor prognosis. Chimeric antigen receptor-transduced T (CAR-T) cell therapy has become a promising immunotherapeutic strategy against haematologic malignancies. METHODS: In this study, four CAR-T cell lines (CD38-CAR, LMP1-CAR, CD38-LMP1 tandem CAR 1 and CD38-LMP1 tandem CAR 2) were generated. The effect of CAR-T cells against NKTCL cells was evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. Expression of T cell activation markers and cytokines produced by CAR-T cells were detected by flow cytometry. RESULTS: The four CAR-T cell lines could effectively eliminate malignant NKTCL cells. They could be activated and produce inflammatory cytokines in a target-dependent manner. In vivo tests showed that the CAR-T cells exhibited significant antitumour effects in a xenotransplanted NKTCL mouse model. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, four CAR-T cell lines exhibited significant cytotoxicity against NKTCL cells both in vitro and in vivo. These results indicated the effective therapeutic promise of CD38 and LMP1 CAR-T cells in NKTCL.

RESUMO

The treatment of natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) presents an onerous challenge, and a search for new therapeutic targets is urgently needed. Poly ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) were initially used to treat breast and ovarian cancers with BRCA1/2 mutations. Their excellent antitumor efficacy led to a series of clinical trials conducted in other malignancies. However, the exploration of PARPi and their potential use in combination treatments for NKTCL remains unexplored. We treated NKTCL cell lines with fluzoparib (a novel inhibitor of PARP) and chidamide (a classical inhibitor of HDACs) to explore their cytotoxic effects in vitro. Then, their antitumor efficacy in vivo was confirmed in YT-luciferin xenograft mouse models. Fluzoparib or chidamide alone inhibited NKTCL cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. Cotreatment with both drugs synergistically induced excessive accumulation of DNA double-strand breaks and massive apoptotic cell death by inhibiting the DNA damage repair pathway, as shown by the decreased protein levels of p-ATM, p-BRCA1, p-ATR, and Rad51. Moreover, the combination treatment apparently increased the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) to enhance apoptosis, and pretreatment with an ROS scavenger reduced the proapoptotic effect by 30-60% in NKTCL cell lines. In vivo, this combined regimen also showed synergistic antitumor effects in xenograft mouse models. The combination of fluzoparib and chidamide showed synergistic effects against NKTCL both in vitro and in vivo and deserves further exploration in clinical trials.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the epidemiologic features of syndactyly (SD) in Chinese newborns. METHODS: Using 2007-2019 data from the Chinese Birth Defects Monitoring Network, we conducted a prevalence analysis on overall, isolated and associated syndactyly according to birth year, maternal age, maternal residence, geographic region and infant sex, with special interests in time trends, perinatal outcomes and clinical phenotypes. RESULTS: A total of 13,611 SD cases were identified among 24,157,719 births in the study period, yielding the prevalence of 5.63, 4.66 and 0.97 per 10,000 for overall, isolated, and associated SD, respectively. The prevalence of each type of SD exhibited an upward trend over the period. The prevalence of overall SD varied significantly by maternal residence (urban vs. rural, 6.69/10,000 vs. 4.35/10,000), maternal age (< 20 years, 5.43/10,000; 20-24 years, 5.03/10,000; 25-29 year, 5.65/10,000; 30-34 years, 6.07/10,000; ≥ 35 years, 5.76/10,000), geographic region (central, 5.07/10,000; east, 6.75/10,000; west, 5.12/10,000), and infant sex (male vs. female, 6.28/10,000 vs. 4.86/10,000). Newborns with associated SD were more likely to be born prematurely (29.2% vs. 10.6%) or with low birthweight (30.5% vs.9.8%) than those with isolated SD. The bilaterally, and unilaterally affected cases accounted for 18.4% and 76.7%, respectively. The feet were more frequently involved (64.3%) in those bilaterally affected cases, while right side preference (right vs left: 53.8% vs 46.2%) and upper limbs preference (hand vs foot: 50.8% vs 48.0%) were found in unilateral cases. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of syndactyly in China is on the rise and notably higher than that in other Asian and European countries, highlighting the importance of investigating the etiology, epidemiology, and clinical implications of this condition in the Chinese population.

RESUMO

The massive discard of spent masks during the COVID-19 pandemic imposes great environmental anxiety to the human society, which calls for a reliable and sustainable outlet to mitigate this issue. In this work, we demonstrate a green design strategy of recycling the spent masks to fabricate hard carbon fabrics toward high-efficient sodium energy storage. After a simple carbonization treatment, flexible hard carbon fabrics composed of interwoven microtubular fibers are obtained. When serving as binder-free anodes of sodium-ion batteries, a large Na-ion storage capacity of 280 mAh g-1 is achieved for the optimized sample. More impressively, the flexible anode exhibits an initial coulombic efficiency of as high as 86% and excellent rate/cycling performance. The real-life practice of the flexible hard carbon is realized in the full-cells. The present study affords an enlightening approach for the recycling fabrication of high value-added hard carbon materials from the spent masks for advanced sodium energy storage.

RESUMO

Natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is an incurable aggressive T-cell lymphoma closely correlated with Epstein‒Barr virus (EBV) infection. Chronic and consistent viral infection induces T-cell exhaustion. Herein, we describe T-cell dysfunction in NKTCL patients for the first time. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from age-matched healthy donors (HDs) and NKTCL patients were collected, and lymphocyte distributions, multiple surface inhibitory receptors (IRs), effector cytokine production and cell proliferation were determined by flow cytometry. PBMCs from HDs were cocultured with NKTCL cell lines to verify the clinical findings. IR expression was further assessed in NKTCL tumor biopsies using multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC). NKTCL patients have higher frequencies than HDs of inhibitory T regulatory cells (Tregs) and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). T-cell distribution also varies between NKTCL patients and HDs. T cells from NKTCL patients demonstrated higher expression levels of multiple IRs than HDs. Meanwhile, T-cell proliferation and interferon-γ production was significantly reduced in NKTCL patients. More importantly, the number of EBV-specific cytotoxic cells was lower in NTKCL patients, and these cells demonstrated upregulation of multiple IRs and secreted fewer effector cytokines. Interestingly, NKTCL cells caused normal PBMCs to acquire T-cell exhaustion phenotypes and induced generation of Tregs and MDSCs. In line with ex vivo finding, mIHC results showed that CD8+ T cells from NKTCL tumor biopsies expressed much higher level of IRs compared with reactive lymphoid hyperplasia individuals. The immune microenvironment of NKTCL patients exhibited T-cell dysfunction and accumulation of inhibitory cell components, which may contribute to impaired antitumor immunity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Multiple myeloma (MM) is an aggressive plasma cell malignancy, causing a number of deaths worldwide every year. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) transduced T-cell therapy has been a promising immunotherapy against hematological malignancies. METHODS: In this study, we developed a second-generation CAR construct and generated CAR-T cells targeting CD38 molecule. Then effects of CAR-T cells against MM cell lines were evaluated. RESULTS: CD38-CAR-T cells showed higher cytotoxicity to MM cell lines and primary MM cells than that of control T cells in vitro. Over 50% MM1.s and RPMI8226 cells were killed by CAR-T cells even at effector to target ratio of 1:100. CAR-T cells also showed an enhanced cytotoxicity against primary MM cells. CAR-T cells could be activated and produced a variety of cytokines in a target-dependent manner. In vivo test indicated that CAR-T cells also showed significant antitumor effect on xenograft mice models. CONCLUSION: These results indicated a promising therapeutic strategy of CD38-CAR-T cells against MM.

RESUMO

Maternal PM2.5 exposure has been identified as a potential risk factor for preterm birth, yet the inconsistent findings on the susceptible exposure windows may be partially due to the influence of gaseous pollutants. This study aims to examine the association between PM2.5 exposure and preterm birth during different susceptible exposure windows after adjusting for exposure to gaseous pollutants. We collected 2,294,188 records of singleton live births from 30 provinces of China from 2013 to 2019, and the gridded daily concentrations of air pollutants (including PM2.5, O3, NO2, SO2, and CO) were derived by using machine learning models for assessing individual exposure. We employed logistic regression to develop single-pollutant models (including PM2.5 only) and co-pollutant models (including PM2.5 and a gaseous pollutant) to estimate the odds ratio for preterm birth and its subtypes, with adjustment for maternal age, neonatal sex, parity, meteorological conditions, and other potential confounders. In the single-pollutant models, PM2.5 exposure in each trimester was significantly associated with preterm birth, and the third trimester exposure showed a stronger association with very preterm birth than that with moderate to late preterm birth. The co-pollutant models revealed that preterm birth might be significantly associated only with maternal exposure to PM2.5 in the third trimester, and not with exposure in the first or second trimester. The observed significant associations between preterm birth and maternal PM2.5 exposure in the first and second trimesters in single-pollutant models might primarily be influenced by exposure to gaseous pollutants. Our study provides evidence that the third trimester may be the susceptible window for maternal PM2.5 exposure and preterm birth. The association between PM2.5 exposure and preterm birth could be influenced by gaseous pollutants, which should be taken into consideration when evaluating the impact of PM2.5 exposure on maternal and fetal health.

RESUMO

Weakly-coupled mode division multiplexing (MDM) techniques supporting intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) transmission is a promising candidate to enhance the capacity of short-reach applications such as optical interconnections, in which low-modal-crosstalk mode multiplexers/demultiplexers (MMUX/MDEMUX) are highly desired. In this paper, we firstly propose an all-fiber low-modal-crosstalk orthogonal combine reception scheme for degenerate linearly-polarized (LP) modes, in which signals in both degenerate modes are firstly demultiplexed into the LP01 mode of single-mode fibers, and then are multiplexed into mutually orthogonal LP01 and LP11 modes of a two-mode fiber for simultaneous detection. Then a pair of 4-LP-mode MMUX/MDEMUX consisting of cascaded mode-selective couplers and orthogonal combiners are fabricated with side-polishing processing, which achieve low back-to-back modal crosstalk of lower than -18.51 dB and insertion loss of lower than 3.81 dB for all the 4 modes. Finally, a stable real-time 4 modes × 4λ × 10 Gb/s MDM-wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission over 20-km few-mode fiber is experimentally demonstrated. The proposed scheme is scalable to support more modes and can pave the way to practical implementation of IM/DD MDM transmission applications.

RESUMO

In this work, we investigate the impact of Bi addition on the heat resistance of as-extruded AZ31 alloy during high-temperature annealing and hot compression. Electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) technique and quasi in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are used to analyze the evolution of microstructures during high-temperature annealing and hot compression, respectively. The test results show that with a prolonged annealing time, the as-extruded AZB313 alloy exhibited a lower grain growth rate, due to the pinning effect of Mg3Bi2 phases distributed at grain boundaries. On the other hand, as the compressive temperature increased, the downtrend of strength is delayed in the as-extruded AZB313 alloy. Thermally stable Mg3Bi2 phases dispersed within the grains act as barriers, hindering the motion of dislocations, which not only provides a more effective precipitation strengthening effect, but also increases the resistance to deformation of grains. Moreover, grain boundary sliding can also be restricted by Mg3Bi2 phases located at grain boundaries. This work provides a new idea for the development of heat-resistant wrought Mg alloys.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary sequestration (PS) is the second common congenital lung malformation and has been known for over 150 years. However, there is a scarcity of epidemiological studies on it. This study aimed to characterize the epidemiology of pulmonary sequestration in Chinese population in the recent decade by using a nationwide database. METHODS: Using data from the Chinese Birth Defects Monitoring Network during 2010-2019, the prevalence rates for PS were calculated by birth year, maternal age, residence area, geographical region, and infant sex. Variations in prevalence and changes over time were further examined. Other variables of interest for analysis included the pregnancy outcomes of affected infants, the prenatal diagnosis, and the co-occurring anomalies of PS cases. RESULTS: During the study period, we identified an average prevalence rate of 0.31, 0.11, and 0.42 per 10,000 live and still births for the isolated, non-isolated, and overall PS, respectively. An upward trend was observed for each category of PS. The prevalence rates varied significantly by maternal age (< 20 years, 0.34/10,000; 20-24 years, 0.33/10,000; 25-29 years, 0.45/10,000; 30-34 years, 0.46/10,000; ≥ 35 years, 0.36/10,000), residence area (urban vs. rural, 0.51/10,000 vs. 0.30/10,000), geographical region (western, 0.33/10,000; eastern, 0.49/10,000; central, 0.43/10,000), and by infant sex (male vs. female, 0.45/10,000 vs. 0.38/10,000). Non-isolated PS cases were more likely born prematurely than isolated cases (15.29% vs. 7.83%). 40.28% and 33.80% of non-isolated cases were accompanied by additional respiratory, and circulatory system malformations, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The study presents for the first time the prevalence of pulmonary sequestration in Chinese population. The rising prevalence and relatively poor perinatal outcome of affected fetuses or newborns indicate the necessity to improve perinatal management of PS.

RESUMO

For the treatment of an intertrochanteric fracture combined with femoral head necrosis in middle-age patients, it has been controversial whether to perform fracture reduction and fixation first then total hip replacement, or direct total hip replacement. We present a rare case of 53-year-old male patient suffered from bilateral intertrochanteric fracture caused by a road traffic injury. The patient had a history of femoral head necrosis for eight years, and the Harris score was 30. We performed total hip replacement with prolonged biologic shank prostheses for primary repair. One year after the surgery, nearly full range of motion was achieved without instability (active flexion angle of 110°, extension angle of 20°, adduction angle of 40°, abduction angle of 40°, internal rotation angle of 25°, and external rotation angle of 40°). The Harris score was 85. For the middle-aged patient with unstable intertrochanteric fractures and osteonecrosis of the femoral head, we can choose primary repair for concurrent bilateral intertrochanteric fracture and femoral head necrosis with prolonged shank biologic total hip replacement.

RESUMO

Natural killer/T cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is a highly aggressive hematological malignancy. However, there is currently no consensus on therapies for refractory/relapsed patients. In this study, we investigated the synergistic anticancer effect and potential mechanism of combining chidamide, a histone deacetylases (HDACs) inhibitor, and etoposide, a DNA-damaging agent, in NKTCL. We demonstrated that chidamide or etoposide alone dose- and time-dependently inhibited the cell viability of NKTCL cell lines, YT, NKYS and KHYG-1. Functional experiments suggested that combined chidamide and etoposide treatment exerted synergistic antiproliferation effect and enhanced cell apoptotic death in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the expression of DNA damage related proteins was detected and we also examined the alternations in histone acetylation, cell cycle progression, and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). The results suggested that increased histone acetylation, cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and loss of MMP, converging to greater DNA damage, might account for the synergism of the combination of chidamide and etoposide in NKTCL. Taken together, our study provides an evident for possible application on combining HDACs inhibitors and DNA-damaging agents for the treatment of NKTCL.

RESUMO

Hard carbons as a kind of nongraphitized amorphous carbon have been recognized as potential anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its large interlayer spacing. However, the issues in terms of onerous synthetic procedure and elusive working mechanism remains critical bottlenecks for practical implement. Herein, we report a facile production of tubular hard carbon through direct carbonization of platanus flosses (FHC) for the first time. Through optimizing the pyrolysis temperatures, the FHC obtained at 1300 °C possesses a key balance between the interlayer spacing and surface area, which can maintain the substantial active sites as well as reduce the irreversible sodium storage. Accordingly, it can deliver a reversible capacity of 324.6 mAh g-1 with a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 80%, superb rate property of 107.2 mAh g-1 at 2 A g-1, and long operating stability over 1000 cycles. Furthermore, the in situ Raman spectroscopic studies certify that sodium ions are stored in FHC following the "adsorption-insertion" mechanism. Our study could provide a promising route for large-scale development of the biomass-derived carbonaceous anodes for high-performance SIBs.

RESUMO

This study involved the preparation and characterization of in situ (TiC-TiB2)/Al-4.7Cu-0.32Mg-0.44Si composites with excellent mechanical and abrasive wear properties. The composites were synthesized in an Al-Ti-B4C system by combining combustion reaction synthesis with hot-pressed sintering and hot extrusion. The in situ TiB2 and TiC particles were of multi-scaled sizes ranging from 20 nm to 1.3 µm. The TiB2 and TiC particles effectively increased the yield strength (σ0.2), ultimate tensile strength (σUTS), hardness (HV), and abrasive wear resistance of the composites. The 40 wt.% (TiC-TiB2)/Al-4.7Cu-0.32Mg-0.44Si composite exhibited the highest σ0.2 (569 MPa), σUTS (704 MPa) and hardness (286 HV), which were 74%, 51% and 110% higher than those of the matrix alloy, respectively. Compared with the matrix alloy, the abrasive wear resistance of the 40 wt.% (TiC-TiB2)/Al-4.7Cu-0.32Mg-0.44Si composite was increased by 4.17 times under an applied load of 5 N and Al2O3 abrasive particle size of 13 µm. Micro-ploughing and micro-cutting were the main abrasive wear mechanisms for the Al-Cu-Mg-Si alloy and the composites.
